International workshop: MDGs and beyond

The Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) were drawn up in 2000/2001 as one of the most far-reaching development agendas ever proposed. Now, their deadline is approaching. The international development community is therefore discussing two questions: Have the MDGs been a success? And what will be after 2015? How might a framework for development policy look like after the MDGs?

To contribute to this discussion, the German Development Institute/Deutsches Institut für Entwicklungspolitik (DIE) is organizing an international workshop on 20-21 November 2011 in Bonn, in cooperation with the Poverty Reduction, Equity and Growth Network (PEGNet) and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Co-operation and Development (BMZ). Experts from theory and practice will exchange views on four issues: (i) whether a new global development agenda after 2015 is needed, (ii) which topics and goals such an agenda should include, (iii) how progress towards these goals should be measured, and (iv) what the process of designing such an agenda should look like.

Please find a call for academic papers, which has also been published on DIE's website. The deadline for submission of abstracts is 1 September 2011.
