Cape Town 24-26 April

COHRED and the Global Forum for Health Research decided to merge in March 2011 and to organize the next Forum meeting in 2012, which will inaugurate a new series of Forum meetings entitled "Beyond Aid...Research and Innovation as key drivers for health, equity and development"

Forum 2012 and COHRED Vision: Forum 2012 fits within the COHRED vision of making health research work for everyone, and its mission to improve health, equity and development by helping countries develop strong research and innovation systems with concrete impact on people's health.

Forum 2012 - A new way of building the programme: Forum 2012 will be substantially different from previous Forum meetings with the introduction of the concept of "year-round" engagement. We believe that the Global Forum for Health Research should be owned by interested world stakeholders.

Why in South Africa? As a new member of the BRICS countries, and given its leadership role in Africa and the world, South Africa is a very appropriate host to help advocate and implement a new approach to international health and development through research and innovation ... beyond aid.

The conference will take place in Cape Town, South Africa 24-26 April 2012.
